Hello, I'm Edwin. So it's a dishwasher. Let me know how many of you usually eat at home, and we'll look at what fits from there.
Choosing a dishwasher: the questions that come first
Two decisions settle most of it: the slot width, and whether the machine is freestanding, semi-integrated or fully integrated. Programmes and consumption only matter after that. Edwin is an AI advisor and asks in that order.
- 45 or 60 centimetres: the narrow one suits small households; the wide one uses less water and power per person because fewer cycles are needed.
- Freestanding, semi- or fully integrated is a kitchen question, not a technical one. Fully integrated needs a matching cabinet front.
- The interior layout matters more day to day than the programme list: cutlery drawer, foldable tine rows, adjustable upper basket.
- Noise counts double in an open kitchen, because the machine often runs in the evening while someone sits next door.
- Cycle length and efficiency are linked: the most efficient programme is usually also the longest.
Is a 45 cm dishwasher enough?
For one or two people, usually yes. With more people you run cycles more often, and then a 60 cm machine is both faster and more economical because fewer cycles are needed.
What does fully integrated mean?
The machine disappears behind a kitchen front, with the controls on the top edge of the door. Semi-integrated means it sits under the worktop but its own front stays visible.
Does Edwin know merchant prices?
He shows the prices from merchant feeds, updated daily. Where no feed carries a price for your market, none is shown — it is not estimated.
