Hello, I'm Edwin. You're after a washing machine — tell me how many people wash in your household, and we'll narrow it down together.
Choosing a washing machine: what actually decides it
The space decides before anything else. Measure width, depth and height before comparing models at all — a machine that does not fit is the wrong one regardless of any review. Edwin is an AI advisor, and these are the first numbers he asks for.
- Measurements first: standard machines are around 60 cm wide, but depth varies a lot. In an alcove, how far the door swings open matters too.
- Load size by household, not by maximum: if you rarely fill the drum, a large one washes inefficiently every time.
- Spin speed depends on whether a dryer follows. Without a dryer, a higher spin speed is worth more.
- Noise in decibels is on the spec sheet — it becomes relevant when the machine sits in a kitchen or next to a bedroom.
- Energy label and programme length are linked: efficient programmes run longer. That is the design, not a fault.
Front loader or top loader?
Top loaders are narrower and load without bending; front loaders hold more and fit under a worktop. If the machine has to go under a counter, that answers the question by itself.
How many kilograms do I need?
As a rough line: one or two people manage with a smaller drum, from three people a larger one starts to make sense. What decides it is how often you wash, not the largest number available.
Where do the prices on product pages come from?
From merchant product feeds, updated daily. If no feed carries a price for your market, none is shown — there are no estimated prices.
Can Edwin tell me which machine is best?
Edwin is an AI system and does not award verdicts. He narrows the field from what you tell him and explains why a machine fits your situation.
